Overview

Phyang Monastery is a hidden gem in Leh that is known as the ‘Gouon gompa’. Nestled in the beautiful Phyang village, it offers great views of lush valleys and mountains. The main attraction in Gompa is a museum which is 900 years old. It has an exclusive collection of numerous thangkas and idols along with a large range of Chinese weapons and firearms. 

History 
Founded by king Tashi Namgyal, this Buddhist monastery is situated at Fiang village. It is the only monastery in Ladakh which belongs to Dri-gung-pa sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
