Gurdwara Pathar Sahib Leh remembers the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who started Sikhism and marks a big step in the faith’s history. In accordance with folk belief, Guru Nanak spent time in this location during his peace journey in 1517.


The Guru was safe when a rock dropped on the demon; Guru Nanak’s disciples gave the spot the name Pathar Sahib. In fact, the rock turned soft, shaped itself around his back and left no injury. When the demon was angry and kicked the rock, his foot made a mark. You can still see evidence of these patterns at the gurdwara.
