Overview
Rajasthan is a land inhabited by valiant and chivalrous people. The most astounding legends of romance and heroism have their stems deep-rooted in the life of Rajasthan. Everything about Rajasthan is breathtakingly gorgeous, imposing and gripping. Ethnicity and the statuettes of Rajasthan are splendid, magnificent and attention-grabbing. It is crammed with the past, sculpture, and customs. Water levels here are very squat and have been so for many centuries. Yet this land with its insistent carpet of sand and scorched desert, the dryness and the heat of this region have driven the people to fill their lives with different colors.
Rajput kinfolks became known and held their sway over different parts of Rajasthan from about 700 AD. Other chief republics that subjugated this region include the Malavas, Kushans, Yaudhyas, Saka Satraps, Arjunyas, Guptas and Hunas. Around 1200 AD a part of Rajasthan came under Muslim rulers. Then came the reign of the Mughal Emperor, Akbar. The political crumbling of Rajasthan was caused by the dismemberment of the Mughal Empire. After 1817, the British rule over Rajasthan began.
Geography: The total land area of Rajasthan is around 343000 sq. kms. Rajasthan is the largest state of the Republic of India in terms of area. It is alienated by Aravalli range, which scampers from northeast to southwest for about 688 km. This Aravalli range is the backbone of the state and divides it into two regions with entirely dissimilar ecological features.
