Overview
Mandarmani is a resort village on the seaside of West Bengal, India. It is one of the largest seaside resorts in West Bengal, still fast developing, and is situated in the northern end of the Bay of Bengal and comes under the East Midnapore district. Initially, it was name Mandar Mani and also Mandarboni. The interesting part about this place is the there is no entry fee. You are free to go to the beach and enjoy the seaside view. But to go inside the resort, one has to pay a fee as it does offer luxury and facility to its top-notch! Thought setting by the seashore while being surrounded by the same is luxury itself, but one can not spend day and night continuously on the beach. Not only is there a huge chance of getting tanned or have to walk around with sand stuffed in the clothes, but the resort also offers all kinds of facilities from head to toe
It takes around 180 km from Kolkata to reach Mandarmani via the Digha route. The area of Mandarmani is about 24.36 sq. km. in total. This beach is known for having the longest drive in India, though it is arguable. This 13 km long beach is filled with crawling red crabs. So, if a person sees red crabs crawled over the area, he reaches his destination. Mandarmani lies under the Contai subdivision area. In comparison with Digha, Mandarmani has a relatively low waver geographically.
To reach Mandarmani, driving through the roads is the best way, but recently, police from local areas restrict private cars from passing by. People generally rent a tourist bus to reach there. There is a proper road that allows tourists to arrive at their respective hotels from the backside. The weather here is average. During the day, one can feel high temperature and low temperature during the night. Being the seaside, the environment is quite fresh, moist, or rough according to the weather.
As per census 2011, 97 families residing in the village with the total population of Mandarmani was about 507 out of which 249 are females, and 250 are males. About 16.37% are children from the age group of 0-6. The literacy rate of males and females is about 87.32% and 76.3%, respectively. People mainly speak Bengali and English in Mandarmani.
There are mainly two festivals celebrated here, the first is Sand Fest and the second is Surf fest. In both of these fests, people are filled with excitement, and as the name suggests, there are all set of things to enjoy, from fun games to music to dance on to delicious seafood items to one’s delight. Seafood in Mandarmani is mouthwatering as they serve the best quality of seafood. Fish items are common and are served with different tastes. One can find a variety to choose from. Having a plate of a dish is like seeing a piece of art there.
Mandarmani is popular for its freshly developed attraction of tourists. Those who visit Digha and Shankarpura also love to visit Mandarmani. This beach is slowly becoming the best spot for beach lovers. They love to experience surfing, sunbathing, roaming around on silt sand, and pristine beach. One can feel the divinity and tranquility on this beach. Considering it’s the longest drivable beach, visitors love motoring around.
Being a beach, there are many water-sand activities one can enjoy. Some of them are bump-boating, sea-boating, Jetski, ATV riding, para-sailing, banana boating, and many more fun sports activities.
