If you are looking for a quieter and more budget-friendly trip, the months outside the main travel season can be worth considering. Kandy receives rain during different parts of the year, so a few showers may be part of your trip even during the better travel months. The cooler hill climate, changing weather, and difference in crowd levels all play a role when choosing the right time.

January and February are generally among the more comfortable months. They can also be busy with travellers, so booking your stay early is useful.
Kandy can receive rain during these months, but the weather is not the same every day. You can still plan a trip if you do not mind carrying an umbrella and keeping some flexibility in your sightseeing plans.
The city and surrounding hills remain green after rainfall, which can make the scenery especially pleasant.
