Mumbai Pune Expressway: Mumbai Pune Expressway connecting Mumbai with Pune is a delight for the drivers and an enjoyable drive. Mumbai to Goa , the 582 km stretch is a trip worth trying. The NH 17 connecting the two places is a picturesque drive. On the way the landscape consist of hills, coastlines and grasslands. There is always this temptation to get off the highway take small diversions and explore the mesmerizing coast on the west side and the green hills to the east. The East Coast Road, aka ECR is a 113 km highway connecting Chennai with Pondicherry. The road winds its way along the Bay of Bengal on the left which glistens with the rays of sunlight. Leh Manali Highway
The 475 km long Leh-Manali Naqtional Highway 21 connects Leh and Manali. This spectacular albeit dangerous road crosses some of the highest mountain passes in the world. This includes Tanglang La (5,325 m), Lachulung La (5,059 m), Baralacha La (4,892 m) and Rohtang La (3,978 m). This road is open during the months of June to mid-October after which the road would be again covered with snow. The scenery changes amazingly as one moves from Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh. With high terrain and barren lands on the way this trip gives loads of excitement, adventure and bliss.
Drive from Tezpur to Tawang
Tezpur in Assam to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh is around 350 kms. This almost 12 hour journey is a feast for the eyes and loaded with adventure and a bit of fear. High ranges, streams between the ridges, sharp hairpin bends, rivulets running alongside the road, thick fog, dead ends all make the journey memorable. On way to Tawang the road passes through Bomdilla(9000 feet), Dhirang, with an ancient dzong (fort) and the Sela Pass (13,714ft). Watch out for the hairy Yaks grazing on the vegetation.
Drive from Chalakudy( Kerala) to Valparai( Tamil Nadu)
One of the most scenic road of south India is the road to Valparai in Tamil Nadu from Chalakudy. The 110 km stretch passing via Athirapalli, Peringalkuthu, Sholayar and Malakkiparai(Malakkiparai (highest tea estates in India) has some of the most dense green jungles in India. The innate calm and silence of the stretch is accompanied with the constant droning of Cicadas. Glimpse of Elephants and other wild species the drive cannot be more adventurous than this.
Drive from Chandigarh to Manali, NH21
A drive from Chandigarh to Manali is an awesome stretch covering a total distance of approximately 320 kms. Hitting out from Chandigarh you would be in the densely wooded Shivaliks, the greenery around is amazing. From midway onwards the ascent starts with lovely curves, rivers and the spectacular streams. The Mandi to Manali leg of the drive is truly pleasant, as the road meanders along the River Beas right up to Manali. Just before Manali a plentiful of apple orchards presents a beautiful sight.
Drive from Mysore to Ooty
Driving from Mysore to Ooty a total of around 160 kms is a sheer pleasure as the drive takes one through some really scenic spots. After you reach the historic Shrirangapattana and then Gundlupet another 10 kms and the road goes inside the Bhandipur National Park. Here you are sure to spot wild animals including Elephants, Deers, wild Cats et al. Then as you ascent from Masinagudi Ghats up to the Nilgiris, the road with 36 hair-pin bends offers stunning views. It’s a trip worth remembering for life.
