The primordial past of Nagaland is very ambiguous and murky. There is very little knowledge about the ancient history of Nagaland. The land was under the rule of British since 1890. The Naga province remained separated sandwiched between Assam and the North East Frontier Agency after Indian independence in 1947. Nagaland became a full-fledged state in the year 1963.

<div>Geography</div><div>The total area of Nagaland is approximately 16579 sq. kms. It is located between&nbsp; 25 degree 6' and 27 degree 4' latitude, North of Equator and between the Longitudinal lines 93 degrees 20'E and 95 degree 15' E. Nagaland shares borders with Assam, Myanmar, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. The state is separated into seven districts – Mokokchung, Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Twensang, Zunheloto and Mon. Three large mountain ranges, running parallel to each other in a serrated line from north to south, embrace the backbone of Nagaland. The terrain is hilly and mountainous. Nagaland is bordered by Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam in the North; Manipur in the South; Myanmar (Burma) on the East and Assam in the West</div>

<div><div><b>People:</b> The total population of Nagaland is approximately 19,88,636. Nagaland has numerous clans each with its unique language and enriching features. Some of the prominent tribes are the Kukis, Angamis, Aos, Konyaks, Lothas, Semas and Wanchus. Naga civilization is a well-knit and interconnected unit living by primeval tenets that play a vital role in modern-day life. Christians comprise of around 87.5% of the total population of Nagaland. Other religions in the state are Hinduism and Islam. Some of the main languages spoken in the region are Chang, Angami, Sema, Rengma, Phom and Konyak. The educated folks of the state speak English. <div>Climate/Temperature: Nagaland is consecrated with a salubrious climate throughout the year. The climate is pleasing and cool and temperature is moderate all throughout the year. The major seasons on the land are summer, winter and rainy season. Nagaland never sees extreme temperatures. In the summer season, from June to September the temperature is between 16 to 31 degrees Celsius. The winter season extends from October to February. The temperature recorded in winter is between 4 and 24 degrees Celsius. Nagaland sees heavy rains. The average rainfall is between 175cm and 250 cm. Most of the heavy rainfall occurs in the period of June to September.</div>
