The hill shrine is also acclaimed as the holiest of the celebrated 108 Tirupatis or Vaishnava Divya Desams. According to legends, it was originally an Adi Varaha Kshetra and Lord Venkateswara came to settle down here in Kali Yuga with permission from Sri Varahaswami.

The shrine is situated on top of the Venkatam Hill or Venkatadri, the tallest of the seven holy hills (3,200 feet above mean sea level) of the Nallamalai range with Nature in all its glory, splendor and charm. Together revered as Saptagiri, an aerial view of these seven hills would give one the impression of Adisesha, the mythological serpent, lying majestically with its seven hoods. Vaishnavite saint Ramanujacharya is said to have reached the Venkatam Hill on his knees. The Acharya considered the hills so sacred that he felt it was sacrilegious to tread the hills.

Venkatachala Mahatmyam speaks volumes about the sanctity and glory of the holy hills and Lord Venkateswara. Sayanamurti (Lord in a sleeping posture) is the chief deity.

Sri Kodandaramaswami Temple:
It is located in the heart of Tirupati and the presiding deities of this temple are Sita, Rama and Lakshmana. This magnificent temple was built during the tenth century AD by a Chola king. This temple, according to legend, celebrates the visit of Sri Rama. The main festivals celebrated in this temple are Ugadi and Sri Ramanavami.

Sri Kapileshwaraswami Temple:
This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is at the foot of the Tirumala Hills. 2 Haroon What is the procedure of darshan in Tirupati temple please let me know as i am going there for the first time.
Even though Tirupati is the most crowded temple in India, the Darshan facility is so well organised that with a little bit of precaution, you can have a Trouble Free Darshan.
First of all, you need to get "Sudarshanam Token" which is available in Tirupati and even in branches of TTD located in major cities throughout India.
You need to check whether your City has a TTD Centre. If you have one, then, get the Token for the date you want to have Darshan. You can go these centres which have a E-Darshan Counter. They will take your photo and Fingerprint which will be verified as you enter the Temple in Tirumala.
If your city does not have one, worry not. Go to tirupati. Immediately after embarking from the Bus Stand or Railway Station, there are Ticket counters which gives these Sudarshanam Tokens, you can give your Thumb Impression and get one.

If your Visit is quite a long way, say about more than 1 month ahead, then you can try booking through the net on http://www.tirumala.org.
And better still you can also write on just a simple piece of paper to "The Peishkar Sri Venkateshwara Temple" requesting for a Seva/Darshan ticket along with the relevant Amount through DD favouring the Executive Officer, TTD, Tirupati.

Preferably take the 'ARCHANANTARA DARSHAN' which costs about Rs.200 and you are allowed inside the Temple at 5.30am.
At this time, the crowd is very less and you can have a peaceful Darshan.

May Lord Venkateshwara Bless you.
Regards,
Srikanth Shankar Matrubai

3 HimanshuTomer Which is the good time to visit Tirupati?
Dear Himanshu,
Actually, in true sense, any time is good time to visit Tirupati. But if you are looking weatherwise, then Summer month of May can be really hot and sweaty, you can avoid that month.
And if you are concerned about crowd, then you avoid all National Holidays, Dasara season, the entire month of Shravan (currently running), Diwali. In fact, to tell you the truth, Tirupati is always crowded, so you should not really give too much thought on Crowd factor.
In nutshell, Anytime is a Great time to visit Tirupati.
Best of luck,
Srikanth Shankar Matrubai,
Bangalore

2 Jpsingh Hello, which is the best way to reach Tirupati from Manipal, do i have to come to mangalore or Udupi? From Tirupati i will cm back to delhi so suggest me how to cm back frm tirupati to delhi. Thank y
Dear Singh,

The distance from Manipal to Tirupati is approx 659kms via Udupi and Mangalore.
First you need to reach Mangalore which is approx 65kms from Mangalore. It is best to travel by Navyug Express which departs Mangalore at 4.20pm and reaches Tirupati by 9.05am the next day. The fare is approx Rs.295 by Sleeper and Rs.845 by AC 3Tier.

You can book Darshan and Seva Tickets at Udupi (5km from your place, manipal). The TTD seva counter is at Geetha mandir.

The distance from Delhi to Tirupati is approx 2062 kms. There are quite a number of flights from Tirupati to Delhi and vice versa.

The Fastest Train from Tirupati to New Delhi is Kerala Express which takes about 34 hours to reach Delhi. It leaves Tirupati at 3.52am early in the morning and reaches New Delhi the next day afternoon at around 1.30.

The next best option is to take the Millennium Express which leaves Tirupati at 7.35 am in the morning and reaches New Delhi at 5pm the next day evening. The only disadvantage is that this Train has only a Sunday Depature. So you should plan in advance as to leave Tirupati on a Sunday morning. The fare for both the Trains is Rs.524 by Sleeper and Rs.1418 by AC 3tier.

Best of luck,
Srikanth Shankar Matrubai
