Nathdwara QnA
YOUR QUERIES AND ANSWERS
HI,
Reaching nathdwara from ahmedabad-
By road - taxi or bus, ahmedabad udaipur highway (four lane highway), then udaipur to nathdwara also a good highway. taxi would take less than five hours.
Lots of private travels buses(luxurious ones as well ) are available, directly from ahmedabad to nathdwara. RTC buses are also good for the same and are quite frequent aswell.
By rail- only upto udaipur there is a meter gauge connection, and one overnight train. nathdwara not connected by train.
hope that helps.

Shrinathji Temple
One of the main tourist attractions of Nathdwara is the Shrinathji Temple. Devoted to Lord Krishna, the temple houses a black stone image Krishna of the deity. It is believed that the lord, himself, selected Nathdwara as a venue for his temple. As per the legend, the statue of Krishna was being transferred from Mathura in 1669 to protect it from Aurangzeb. The wheels of the wagon carrying the statue got stuck in the ground while passing through Nathdwara. The accompanying priest assumed this incident as a sign from Lord Krishna. Thereafter, the Srinathji temple was built on the spot. Photography at the temple is strictly prohibited.

The best way to visit Nathdwara is by train. From Mumbai go by train to reach Udaipur. Nathdwara is hardly 50 kms from Udaipur. From Udaipur you can travel by local bus / point to point Jeeps. If you are visiting with family, then you can book a private vehicle and visit. You can also visit Eklingaji on the way or back. Dear Sir,
Nathdwara Temple lies 48 kms from Udaipur and literally means the gateway to the Lord.
This great Vaishnavite shrine was built in the 17th century on spot exactly defined by the Lord himself. The legends have it that the image of the Lord Krishna was being transferred to safer place from Vrindaban to protect it from the destructive wrath of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
The image when it reached the spot it vehicle the bullock carts wheel sank axel deep in mud and refused to move further. The accompanying priest realised that this was lord's chose spot and the image did not want to travel any further.

Dear Love,
Thanks for your query,
